US Senate Approves New Funding for Homelessness, Native Hawaiian Housing

The U.S Senate on Friday approved new funding for homeless programs nationwide and Native Hawaiian housing.
U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, says the appropriation includes $5 million for the Native Hawaiian Housing Block Grant program.
The Native Hawaiian Housing Block Grant was established under the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act. The state Department of Hawaiian Home Lands will administer the funds.
Additional funds will go to affordable housing programs in Hawaii.
“These additional funds will give our state the resources to help families access affordable housing and services while we continue to implement long-term solutions,” Schatz said.
